Connectors for automation

Does anyone know of any connectors that are designed for/meant for use by automated means? I was trying to think of a way to be able to automatically/robotically connect usb power to a phone/tablet charging port, without a misalignment causing damage to either the phone, the machine, or both.

My first thought was to use RCA connectors on a small pcb with male micro USB on the other side, so that you could connect the adapter by hand, and can flare out the male RCA a bit to counter any minor misalignment.

Does anyone have a better idea or know of anything in this realm?

Thanks!
