I’m totally new to DIY electronics but I want to create using switches, a slider with stepping , or a rotary knob with stepping ( is encoder the right term?) to help me remember checklists. What I mean is I want a poor man’s alternative to this https://www.missionarybushpilot.com/buddycheck
I need it to be a physical switch or slider with noticeable steps ( so I can quickly get feedback when I switch to the next step) or large knob of at least 5cm wide, and it must be in steps from 6 up to a maximum of 10. Also it will be unpowered so no need for lights and wiring, I just need the physics switch(es) place to put my labels on the custom housing, and that’s it.
It also needs to be a small enough contraption that I can make a housing for it and to be strapped to my upper leg without getting in my way too Much, so not bigger than an A5 paper size.
Here’s roughly 2 variants I can think of https://ibb.co/j8yRrHY
Second, I found a rotary encoder
Just found this amazing item on https://a.aliexpress.com/_EzxCuJZ but it has too many steps, the challenge is most of these appear to be without the knobs and unsure what’s the standard for that so I can get the knob separate. Third I've found this interesting panel with just the right amount of switches
Just found this amazing item on AliExpress. Check it out! CHF8.43 5ï¼… Off | 3/6 Gang Toggle Switch Panel On/Off Rocker Toggle Switch with 10A Fuse Racing Cars RV Camper Marine Boat Yacht 12V/24V Switches https://a.aliexpress.com/_EH8wIXp
But I’m open to advice or other types of physical switches that can do the job and I didn’t consider.
Thank you in advance.
