I have a Dial 3/4 HP motor that is 2 speed. I loosen the tension on the belt. Then I took off the belt and ran it by itself and it still shuts down and over heats.
It has a ground, L connection, C connection, and H connection.
I have a multimeter and it’s reading 108.v on the 110 lines. I hooked up neutral to C, ground to ground and the Hot wire to a switch that spits between H and L. The thing over heats and smells like wires are burning.
On the 230 line I have an outlet with 2 30 amp breakers that was for a camper. I used a 50 amp plug with 10 gauge wire. I wired the ground to ground. Then a hot L1 wire to C and a hot Wire to H just to test it. I didn’t have a line to L so I can just test it. It shut off right away on 2 motors. What am I doing wrong?
Note my electrical had some issues and we had plugs not working with the neutral and the hot stick works and the multimeter doesn’t read.
