I have this socket. It's not loose per se it holds the cord perfectly well. It's just picky. Even the tiniest amount of nearly imperceptible angle means it does not supply power.
It's the top one in the image below. And in this picture the power strip plugged into it is not getting power. It has no issues on the bottom outlet. Even when I duct tape it in place it will often just naturally fall enough to turn off.
Besides the fact that this renders this outlet useless I think it could also become a safety issue.
I know a lot of the electric stuff in the house is a bit dated. And this sort of panel is something I haven't opened up before.
I know how to turn off my breaker, have a multimeter, am comfortable with it all and have the equipment with wiring/nuts/cutters etc to do this repair.
What I dont know is whether I need a special kind of socket to fit into a box like this. If I open this up will I just find normal replaceable socket sitting behind this sort of tan cover?
Like can I literally just get a replacement socket. Put it in behind the panel, put the panel on top.
Do I need to replace this socket with one that also has a the two reset buttons or is it ok to keep it simple?
