Hello r/askelectricians
I’m not sure I’m in the right spot but I figure I’d start here. I have two Sony speakers that I plug into a Denon AV Receiver DRA-55V that will occasionally work and then will stop despite signal from the radio. Or turntable; it has a couple other inputs but AM/FM and Phono are the only ones I have in use. The speaker wires are crimped into red and black ports.
I will unplug and then fiddle with the speaker wires in different ways like moving from Speaker A to Speaker B inputs, clip and strip the speaker wires for fresh connection points, or just not use it for a few days/weeks. Sometimes it works quickly and other times not so quick. Eventually I find success and everything works again for a bit but without fail eventually the cycle begins anew.
I measured the speakers with a voltmeter and supposedly they are within range (measured ohms from 7-12).
I’m pretty discouraged so I’m hopeful I can pick y’all’s brain about it to see if I can find a permanent solution. Thank you in advance.
Please forgive my vocabulary I’m sure I’m butchering the terminology.
Thank you again.
