Box fans and rheostats?
Post Body

We have a large covered patio that I have a couple large outdoor ceiling fans on. Most of the year they do just fine, but inJuly, August and early September when it's 100 degrees, they just don't move enough air. A few ppl in our neighborhood have put a couple box fans up pointing down and they do really good. But they have basically just ran extension cords and leave them set on high.

I'd like to do something a little more advanced. Basically I'd like to put up 4 or 6 box fans and wire them into a dedicated 20amp circuit that is controlled with a rheostat so I can easily adjust the speed they run at. I know there are box fans available with remote controls, but I don't want 6 remotes to deal with.

I have a few ceiling fans that I've wired this way, didn't know if the simpler, cheaper box fans would handle this?

Id really appreciate any and all thoughts or advice from the pros?

Thanks!
