I recently became the owner of a Tensor 1500 desk lamp. I was looking into buying some led bulbs--it takes #93 bulbs or car tail light bulbs--for it when I started reading about issues of LED bulbs being burned out by the reverse reverse voltage thrown out by the transformer in these lamps. I then started reading about solutions to this issue such as installing a diode bridge or possibly wiring in a P-channel MOOSFET into the circuit with The drain pin connected to the power source, the source pin wired to the bulb, and gate pin wired to ground.Â
After reading up on this, I realized I only knew enough about electronics to know that I don't understand if either of these solutions would work or how to do them properly. Thus I am writing to you to inquire about these solutions and to see if either of them are viable. If they are, does anyone know of someone with the skills to do this for explain how best to do this?
