Replaced outlet causing insinkerator to always stay on
Post Body

Hello! I just finished an outlet replacement for a supposed bad outlet (been in the house since it was built), and this outlet is specifically for an insinkerator garbage disposal. Problem is, I'm 98% sure I did everything correctly, and now the garbage disposal is always running when plugged in.

Mind you, this is also a new garbage disposal that was put in alongside the outlet (I did not install the GD). The previous GD always worked when it was turned on via a switch, until it got too old and died.

Assuming I did everything right with the outlet, is it possible the switch (which is connected separately to another area on the wall) could be bad?

I apologize if I am unclear in this, I am by no means not even an amateur. This was something I did by watching a YT video.

Thanks.
