I'm not sure why, I just bought the house. There was a dishwasher here that I removed, but it looked like they had just cut the ground. Here are a couple more of what's visible https://imgur.com/a/CN8xK6k. Thanks for your time and expertise.
AND used wrong terminology... Definitely not conduit, it's flexible, looks like wrapped metal, and not a chance I'd be able to pull anything through it. And I apologize for being that exact homeowner you described, including the shitty pictures lol I did crop it to make sure my feet weren't in it at least.
And that is usually what I get... "Hey I have this kind of rash near my back that itches sometimes. What is that?" So yeah, sorry for being that guy. And I appreciate /u/diydave86 replying at all... there was helpful stuff in there if I knew what I was doing. I'll stick to ceiling fans and call it a day (and call a skilled electrician).
Thanks for replying. This is my first question here, but I pulled the leads out of the dishwasher box to take the photo - I'd never just splice and lay it on the ground or in my ceiling fan or shoved in a wall or whatever.
But I came here to learn, and if this one is beyond a here's how you can do it mr. Homeowner, then that's cool. I have huge respect for skilled work and consider this industry to be highly skilled. I work in medical where people are constantly asking for advice. Sometimes I can help, more often it's "you should check with your personal physician". Thanks again for the reply, and have a great weekend!
So even without a ground lead coming from the current supply this will work?
This actually tasted better than when I did that at the club...
Thank you, the current supply is housed in flexible conduit, but just the two leads :-/
That's the goofy part... It's just a 2 lead coming out of a conduit that then snakes into the wall under the sink. Dishwasher breaker is shared with the disposal.

Just to let you know, I certainly didn't downvote you lol I just appreciate the replies!
If that's the right answer then that's the right answer. Like I said in my other reply, if I'm out of my depth I have no problem accepting it. I've done lights, fans, automotive stuff, some furnace and a/c but generally the supply side has been "right". This was my first uhhh it seems like I'm missing a wire.
On the upside it turns out the supply does run back to a GFI breaker. I really appreciate everyone here taking time to reply. Smart people are cool.
