Countries are more unstable as they get richer?

I seem to have this memory of reading that developing countries become more unstable as they get wealthier. If a country is truly dirt poor all the people care about is if they get to eat. But once a country gets richer, population gets educated and intellectuals start developing… that’s when movements start developing. Is that true? Anyone by any chance got a source?
