I occasionally do some weed living in Washington State and I have some friends that smoke all day, every day. The difference in how little I take vs how much they take is astounding. They will periodically stop or significantly decrease their usage to get their tolerance back closer to normal.
This makes me wonder how the two chemicals (cocaine and THC) differ in the way the body responds to them. Why does a tolerance build up to THC, but it doesn't create a biochemical need like cocaine does? If I understand it correctly the body grows fewer cocaine receptors because of the over stimulation. Thus, you need more coke as you take more and you under function with fewer receptors after the reduction takes place.
How do cannabinoid receptors compare to this process?
