This is going to be VERY LONG but kinda a crazy journey
I had a head injury of nov 2018. I did not lose conscience I stayed breathing and my husband said i was awake the whole time but i did not remember the accident. I hit the back of my head on a solid wood dresser and fell and hit it again on the solid wood floor. I was diagnosed with a concussion and sent home. Less then 24 hours later i started losing my speech. I talked slower and slower until i was stuttering and then by the 30 hour mark not able to speak at all. This went on for three weeks. I saw my nuro and was diagnosed with post concussion syndrome but never a tbi. After about three weeks one day i was able to slowly stutter one word at a time with immense concentration and it was pretty painful but i could do it, after about three days i could do full sentences and finally was slower then i used to be but much better and back to full sentences. I struggled with intellectual speed and basic cognitive task. I struggled with walking like it was to much for my brain to focus on and even a trip from the front of walgreens to the back for meds would make my body try to throw up and i would be done for the day. My nuro continued to say it was post concussion syndrome. I complained the whole time of a severe burning sensation like hot glass was being dragged across my brain. I was told this was normal with Post concussion syndrome. (p.c.s) I finally moved (six months post injury) and got a new neurologist across the country who did an mri and said that everything looked good. He could give me seizure medication to help with what he suspected was nerve pain in my brain. I also developed what is troubling me the most now. somewhere between 5 and 7 months out ( and i cannot remember as time is something i struggle with ) I developed tics .
I would be sitting talking to someone and my left arm would fling out . Then over time it became my left arm would wrap up and hit me behind my head. Then later on my left arm would go out and my right would fling (it looks like a ballerina almost) and finally almost 3 years later now it always goes both arms twist and i have been making sounds . like yip yelp scream sounds. i would occasionally be verbal around the year mark but it has progressively gotten worse with time. I have gone to my nuro now 4 times to ask about it. He suggested it was phycological. I saw both a psychiatrist and phycologist and they both believe it to be neurological. I feel trapped. Three docs all with different answers meanwhile im yelling randomly throughout the day and only getting worse. I feel crazy .
i did some research and i do believe i suffered some sort of tbi do to the severity of symptoms and issues i had. My neurologist has finally ordered another mri but i am not hopeful he will find anything. .
I also suffer from severe vertigo and now receive occipital nerve blocks for nerve damage as well. My nuro acts like it couldnt possible be because of the brain injury but my research shows it can happen. I also had to get prism lenses after my incident as well. which has helped with the vertigo .
Im not sure what to phrase my question as, i guess is there another doctor I can see? One that specializes in what ever this is ?
Any advice?
