I'm very bipolar (hypomanic, delusions, etc.) and very involved my care. Paxil different stabilizers CBT/Therapy worked wonders for years, but eventually Paxil stopped working. I've had 3 doc's since, a half dozen combos since. Right now I'm on lamictal/depakote/prozac. I'm sleepy and twitchy, depressed but functional and "okay." I've been living with it for about a year but I need to get my energy back. I have a medicaid plan that has me in with a doctor that never has any availabilities, so I basically make appointments at the clinic and see whoever and have to go over my whole treatment history every time I go in. The last time I went in for an adjustment the doc looked at me like I was a drug seeker, and I couldn't really blame him. I'm just rattling off side affects and symptoms and lifestyle habits and saying I need to up my SSRI and lower my mood stabilizer and he has no idea who I am or if I have any idea what I'm talking about.
I'm frustrated. Playing with meds is never fun. What can I do to make this process easier? How do I explain what it is I'm trying to achieve? Are there options here I don't know about/haven't explored?
