I'm fairly certain I have a large nasal polyp in my right nostril, I have an appt next month with an ENT to have it checked out.
I just recently started seeing a doctor (for the first time ever) a year ago and I've always had issues with my sinuses. He had me tested for various allergies and prescribed me some allergy meds to help deal with my symptoms. A few weeks ago I learned about the existence of nasal polyps and it clicked that I probably have one. I can't breathe out of my right nostril most of the time and it sounds like a trumpet when I blow my nose. When I put my finger in my nostril I can feel something large and fleshy not too far into it, no pain though.
About a half an hour prior to writing this I had the idea of using a Q-tip to push it back into my nasal cavity so I can actually blow my nose and use saline to flush everything. The q-tip came back out with a small amount of blood on it. My first attempt didn't get the right angle so I had to force it a bit, but my second attempt went smoothly as I found the right angle. I blew my nose again and used the saline, when I cleaned up the tissue had a small amount of blood.
Is this a safe thing to do? I can actually breathe a bit better now that I've done it. I just don't want to damage anything or make things worse.
Edit: I should clarify the growth isn't in my nostril, it's in my nasal cavity and gets stuck in my nostril.
