Hello, I am a combat vet (31yrs old and 215lbs at 6ft in height) who is treated regularly by the VA in the US and was diagnosed with PTSD from my time in the Marine Corps from the years of ‘09 to ‘14.
The VA has put me on a plethora of medication over the years but nothing works. I always jump back into fits of rage, suicidal thoughts and major depression. I always push loved ones away too as a result. I feel hopelessness and cannot maintain a job for more than a year (I do collect VA disability too).
Most recently, I was put on Duloxetine, coming off Fluoxetine. After a month the VA suggested I take Abilify to stabilize the Duloxetine as it wasn’t working. I take 120mg of the Duloxetine and 15mg of the Abilify.
It has been suggested by an alternative mental health doctor that I could have ADD. She said this would make all these medications I’ve been on, incorrect at treating my root symptoms. Is this correct? I go in for testing tomorrow to see if I have ADD. If I do, would that mean I would need to change medications again? Because currently these meds are not doing much better.
