Red lump on thigh could be cancer ?
Post Body

Hi

This may sound silly but I need to know (even though I already have an appointment with a dermatologist). A few years ago (I don't know how many exactly but I think it's been at least 8 years), a pimple-like lump appeared on my thigh. It's been so long that I don't remember exactly, but I think I broke it out. That lump never went away, and I assumed (maybe it really did?) that it stayed there because I kept trying to pull it out. Like a kind of scar. Systematically the same thing happens: I manage to remove the upper part (of the skin) by scratching. The rest bleeds, makes a crust and once healed, everything comes back as before. It does not hurt and I have never worried.

However, I read yesterday that a smooth red ball could be a sign of cancer. I made an appointment with a specialist but is that what it could be? Since I've had it for such a long time, I guess skin cancer would have already killed me without treatment, right? I've also had two back surgeries since then and I guess the blood tests done at that time would have shown something, I don't know... Also, it never got bigger.

Can you reassure me or on the contrary tell me that it is possible despite the time spent please?

Thank you for your help.

here's a picture : https://imgur.com/a/7r2yjUS (keep in mind that I scratched it a week ago. It doest not look like that the rest of the time. It's usually just a red, soft spot, with no crust like here).
