In the last three years, my 63 year old mom’s health has gotten worse. In late 2019, she developed sciatica that makes it hard for her to walk and frequent UTIs. In late 2020, she developed a chronic cough and her blood pressure would randomly go up to something like 210/115. This gradually stopped until the high blood pressure and cough came back a couple months ago.
She had a heart stress test done at the ER the other week which came back normal. Her doctor gave her a blood test and the results came back on her MyChart app. It says her high sensitivity crp level is 7.2.
My mom looked up what that means online and it seems that a result over 3 indicates high risk of cardiovascular problems. Is this correct? Why would her heart stress test come back normal? She’s very worried after reading this result and won’t be able to talk to her doctor until possibly tomorrow.
