Complex medical history and numerous medications
I had a โsurgicalโ procedure 6 days ago to remove an infected power port/mediport from my right upper chest (it failed to clear a double staph infection after 21 days of Vanconycin). Today I discovered that beneath the incision there is an area about the size of a silver dollar that is firm or hard to the touch and very distinct from the surrounding tissue. The site is mildly red, not warm to the touch, has no visible drainage, and has little pain unless I move my chest muscle too far or too suddenly. My temperature has been below 101 when checked, and I am receiving IV Vancomycin through Sunday evening. I do know that the port had moderate adhesions in certain areas that had to be addressed, but this hardened area was not present when I removed the dressing on Saturday. Would this likely be a solid area of scar tissue that has formed within 6 days? Is there anything that I need to be concerned about?
Thank you so very much!
