39WM, 210 lbs, 5'7". About eight years ago I had PRK surgery done by the Navy. Ever since then I wake up most mornings with dry eyes. My follow ups were only once every few months (after the first month of appointments every week) and I was being prescribed Refresh lubricating drops which I used (and still use) regularly.
The dry eyes are often extremely painful and I typically wake up opening my eyes and instantly closing them, both of which feel like I'm ripping layers off my eyeball. After a few blinks I'm okay again, but lately I've noticed it's been taking longer and longer to recover, and my eyesight remains slightly blurry for a good twenty minutes or so (which is new for me) even after drops.
Is there an actual procedure that can correct this? I've seen the commercials with Jennifer Aniston about the dry eyes, but I've always just figured it's more eye drops. Is there any sort of home remedy I can use to prevent the dryness in the morning? Thanks in advance.
