Complaint:
My dad just got out of the ER yesterday afternoon after going through a TIA (He went to the ER with a BP of 183/77). His bloodwork showed that he also has low hematocrit and hemoglobin but never had a history of anemia. The MRI confirmed the TIA (this is his second in almost 8 years).
The doctors also told him that he has a degenerative nerve in his neck that was causing his neck/shoulder pain for the last few months. He was going to physical therapy but only last week was told to see his neurologist.
I wanted to know what are some good physical and dietary changes to help mitigate the effects of the TIA as well as prevent/delay the next one.
He's a music producer so he does spend all day at his desk which explains the clot. He's currently taking 81mg of aspirin, Ramipril (I think at 5mg), and a cholesterol medication (he hasn't had high cholesterol in many years). His blood glucose floats around the pre-diabetic range and was recorded at 111 when he went to the ER but had dinner roughly 4 hours before the visit.
