Hello medical redditors. I just looked up this sub seeking advice.
I’m a 32 year old white female. I’m 5 foot 4 and 270lbs. Born and raised in the Detroit suburbs (Michigan, USA.) I am diabetic (type 2.) i also have PCOS, a thyroid disorder (I can’t remember if it’s hypo or hyper) and anxiety and depression.
I currently take loratidine, venlafaxine, birth control, vitamin D, vitamin b12, levothyroxine, glimipiride (all in AM) suclarafate, ompreazole, and melatonin (all in PM) daily as directed by my GP for various symptom management (currently struggling with some undiagnosed nausea issues, has been ongoing for years.)
I’m writing tonight (Thursday) because since Tuesday afternoon, I’ve been experiencing extreme and unrelenting lower back pain. Back pain is not that uncommon for me, but this duration and extremity is unusual (has never happened before.) I’ve tried treating with a heating pad and over the counter extra strength Tylenol (650mg) but nothing is relieving this pain. As far as I know, there was no specific injury (no falls or anything.)
I am currently uninsured and low income. Does this pain warrant an ER, urgent care, or GP/PCP visit? Would a doctor be able to help me (or is it a wait it out type deal?) if the problem likely to get worse if untreated? I am not experiencing any other symptoms. The pain is about an 8 of 10. Just under unbearable, but definitely impacting my quality of life. Even just sitting/lying down is painful. My activity level has been low this week (long hours of work training, in front of computer screens.)
What should I do? Thank you in advance for your advice, and I hope I’ve followed all the posting rules!
