How can I prevent dizziness/passing out during blood draws etc?
Post Body

I have a difficult time during blood draws. I become lightheaded, hot and may pass out. Generally, the technicians have a hard time locating a vein and have to stick me multiple times. I do not watch the process and have tried distracting myself through friendly chit-chat with the tech but have had limited success.

I am very embarressed at causing such a fuss over something so trivial. Inevitably they make me lie down or request I have someone pick me up. I understand this is a vasovagal response to a stressor. Is there some way to train myself out of this?

I am a generally healthy female, 29 with no other major medical issues. I currently take oral bc and a low dose generic antidepressant. The only significant medical procedure I have had was oral surgery to remove wisdom teeth.
