Tissue biopsy after MOHS Surgery

Hello Docs,

So, I had a growth on my left upper chest for almost 20 years (looked almost like a raised burn mark. About the circumference of a dime and about the thickness of 3 nickles). I showed it to several doctors in that time and they all said it was nothing don't worry.

About a year ago i started getting random pains under the growth, first they lasted a second or two then after several months the pain would last longer (was kind of a shooting stabby pain). It would happen sporadically and usually weeks or more would go without any pain.

I told my primary doctor and she sent me off to a dermatologist. He took a biopsy and at first said it came back fine and he didn't reccomend removal. A few days later I was called back to him, a second biopsy had been done by the lab (this time they cut the tissue differently I believe he said). He said it was still benign but the cells were atypical and he reccomended removal. He referred me to another surgeon for MOHS surgery to remove it.

I had the surgery 2 months ago, they told me they got it all and all was well. I noticed on the paper work the growth was labeled a spindle cell sarcoma. The removed just under a 6 inch wide circle of tissue. I've had 4 follow up appointments and each has gone fine, everything is healing nicely.

Today I get a call from the doctors office who performed the surgery and they said that the biopsy came back and they did not get all of the tissue and I have to have more tissue removed. I honestly don't remember if they told me further testing was going to be done on the tissue.

My question is, is a tissue biopsy after MOHS surgery normal? And if so, what is the point of MOHS surgery? The tissue is supposed to be tested as they take it and done in stages so they can get it all in one visit.

I have to call to schedule an appointment tomorrow but I'm wondering if this normal or should I get a second opinion? Is a second opinion possible with the growth gone?

Thank you for any advice/insight!
