25 140lbs Male 5'8 The problem has been ongoing for the last month
My doctor referred me to an ENT when I came in complaining of severe dysphagia. Both solids and liquids feel like they're going down funny and sticking in my throat. My way around this has been chewing food until it's liquidated and even then taking ridiculous sized swallows. It takes me a good hour to finish an average sized meal.
The ENT took a look at my vocal chords with a nasal scope (Laryngoscopy?) and said it looked a little inflamed - possibly esophagitis - and prescribed some Lansoprazole 30mg (the disintegrating tablet - I wouldn't be able to swallow a pill). I've been taking them for two weeks with little relief. Next Friday I have a Barium Swallow test as scheduled by the same ENT. This has me super anxious as I hear the Barium is thick and chalky and difficult to swallow as is, I don't want to be choking on this and/or aspirate it.
Do you think this is safe?
Thank you.
