Hello! I am 23 F, 150lb, no health concerns.
I have always been a huge water drinker. I don't track my intake, but it's way above average. Despite this, I always feel thirsty. I wake up with a dry mouth every morning no matter how much water I drink before bed. This has been the case for as long as I can remember. I talked to a primary care doctor about it once a year ago, and he told me that I'm drinking too much water that it's diluting out my electrolytes and that's why I constantly feel dehydrated.
He recommended I drink sports drinks. I tried this for like a month. I HATE sports drinks. I really can't stomach them.
I was wondering about any second opinions -- is there something else that could be causing me to constantly feel thirsty that I should be tested for? If it really is just missing electrolytes, are there any electrolyte supplements I can take? I've only ever seen powers that you mix into water to make them taste like a sports drink, and like I said... really can't stomach that.
Thanks for any help !
EDIT to add I last had general blood work run ~1.5 years ago, everything was normal except a B12 deficiency (vegetarian). I take B12 supplements and a multivitamin daily since then. Have not had a CBC/Chem rechecked since.
