So essentially 9 times out of 10 when I eat I get a horrible sensation in my throat like it's closing up, accompanied by shortness of breath. Sometimes it's worse than others when eating the same food.
I've made myself so paranoid my throat is closing up it's becoming a real problem. I've lost 20kg in 2 months. I feel I should point out that this is an issue I had a few years ago until allergy tests disproved it (both blood and skin prick) and I'd been fine until October time.
My doctor thinks it's GERD as I get it in the middle of the night too. My doctor gave me a peak flow meter to use whenever I experience these feelings to prove my throat isn't closing... is this legit or am I being fobbed off as they think I'm just a drama queen?
TL;DR: Would a peak flow meter tell me if my airway was closing? And what is the likelihood this is an allergy considering my throat feels funky a lot of the time (sometimes in the middle of the night it'll wake me up) it's just worse right after I've eaten. And it's also a LOT of different foods that trigger me. In actual fact, I think plain chicken and rice is the only thing that hasn't...yet.
Thanks for your help.
