I like my doctor, but I'm unsure about the quality of care and information that I'm getting from her. This idea stems from a friend from another country who pointed out that perhaps doctors in the states may be motivated or under pressure to overprescribe or suggestion surgery (which she did) for financial reasons.
I'm seeing an orthopedic on Wednesday after being referred to this office, and I'm wondering if I should trust the doctor if he suggests an operation (money is somewhat of an issue for me).
Also what should I know about getting surgery and carpal tunnel that isn't easily googled. Any personal stories of advice is also greatly appreciated, thank you!
EDIT - I was also told by my doctor that 50 percent of her patients said it was the best thing for them, and 50 percent said it was a waste of money. She also told me that most of the surgeons she would recommend having moved away, so I'm afraid of the quality of the surgeon. We also talked about how I'm doing IT work so using my hands is important.
