I feel like this all stems from what happened in my life when I was 18, which I'll get to in a second. For the past 6 years I haven't felt like myself mentally or physically which I thought was depression. About a year ago after talking to my doctor he put me on antidepressants which seemed to have helped the mental side of things but physicallyI feel rough.
SymptomsI believe I'm experiencing compared to my old self: Hair thinning and loss on head Always fatigued and unmotivated Trouble building muscle and losing fat Hold on to fat under nipples and around waist Skin has gotten dryer, especially on eyelids at base of eyelashes Slow recovery from injuries More muscle aches and pains Trouble sleeping deeply *Difficulty getting and maintaining an erection Lower sex drive
Honestly it feels like my body is like 35-40 years old at 25. Even though I eat pretty healthy, I track micros and macros, I lift weights 4-5 days a week and usually get at least 7 hours of sleep. I have never taken any steroids or peds.
So when I was 18 I burnt out of playing sports, which I was playing year round at a very high level basically my whole life, I was around 155bs at about 8-10% body fat and 6' tall. Within the year of burning outI did no physical activity really at all but still ate the same, I ballooned all the way up to 204lbs at the heaviest and haven't felt the same since even though i lost a good chunk of that weight, I'm now around 180-185lbs and a bit more muscle thanI used to have.
*I have been to the doctors to talk about my erection issues and how i thought had low testosterone, I've had two blood tests done: 1st: Free Test - 318 pmol/L reference 196-636 pmol/L
2nd: Total Test - 18.8 nmol/L - reference 8.4-28.8 nmol/L Bioavailable Test - 9.2 nmol/L - reference 3.6-11.2 nmol/L SHBG - 34 nmol/L - reference 10.0-70.0 nmol/L
Originally I was seen as possible low normal testosterone so nothing has been done, I went to a urologist and the plumbing seems to all be good. I was given some Viagra to try but it didn't really do that much for me.
From what I've been able to gatherI feel like I might have low testosterone compared to what I may have been at before or I have a hormone imbalance. What has made it difficult to talk about with my doctor is that because I'm so passionate about fitness and health (I went to school for it) I have been able to maintain a decent physique even feeling and dealing with everything, so I keep getting asked if I've taken any steroids and I feel like they might think I'm just trying to get testosterone medically.
I plan on going to my doctors this Sunday to talk more, but if you have any thoughts or advice I would greatly appreciate it!
I'm texting from mobile so I apologise if the formatting is crap.
