I don’t know if this is the right sub for this but I have no idea where else to post it so here goes. My boyfriend 26M, recent diagnosis of Crohn’s disease but no other medical conditions or medications, he’s trying to treat it naturally through diet. Not sure if that’s relevant. Basically, every time he stays over at my house he gets at least one sore that appears to be a bite by some type of bug.
Sometimes the bites are like mosquito sized but small, most recently they have been big like the size of a nickel. It can’t be bed bugs or fleas, nobody else in the whole house or even other guests have ever had any bites at all, and I thoroughly investigated to be sure of that.
I treated all of the corners and windows with raid, treated the mattress with diatomaceous earth and put a cover on it, and they’re still happening. He claims that the reason only he gets bitten but not anyone else is because the bugs just like him more but even when he’s not here I don’t ever get bitten by anything. We live in southern Ontario Canada in a basement apartment if that means anything. I’ve never even seen a spider in here, only centipedes.
My best guess is that it is spider bites but it still doesn’t make sense that it’s only him. How can I even address this? Is there a reason that he could be attracting whatever this is or potentially it’s a reaction to something else but just appearing like a bite of some sort? Is there a product or medication he can take to help? He’s scared of spiders too so the thought that they’re biting him in his sleep has been unnerving. Please help if you can. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated, I’m at a loss as to how I can fix this.
