Alright gang. I’ve thought for a long time that there must be someone out there dealing with the same symptoms as me, so I’m hopeful maybe this subreddit can help me. I’m super glad I found it.
So for the past probably 10 years I’ve been dealing with steadily worsening symptoms of pain in my lower arms and lessening dexterity. Lately it’s becoming debilitating.
It seemed to start around the time that I began a programming job and typed away vigorously all day. That caused me to initially think it was just a repetitive stress injury but these days I’m not so sure.
It is almost entirely on the undersides of my forearms and it’s just this awful dull pain. It IS made worse by fine movements in my thumbs and fingers but it will also hurt on its own when unprovoked.
When it feels the worst, I’ve found I can slightly and temporarily ease the pain/tension by pulling my fingertips towards the back of my arm in a big stretch. I’ll feel and hear an audible pop, and then slight relief. I do this many times throughout the day.
I have tried physical therapy and massage to no avail. Please help!
Other random thoughts which might give clues to a diagnosis? - I seem to have larger than average lymph nodes in that area. A physical therapist I went to describes it as “gravel”. - I’ve always less energetic and easily fatigued as compared to my peers. - I seem to have a pretty sensitive stomach. - Very occasionally the symptoms will ease by ~70% but I can’t correlate that with any changes in my life.
