Lead encephalopathy? Oxidative stress?
Post Body

19M UKĀ experienced generalised symptoms several months after renovation incl. sanding of historic paint inĀ bedroomĀ and cleanup was not conducted as thoroughly as should have been done if lead dust was suspected. First exposure occured perhaps in January with removal of wallpaper and destruction of small sections of ruined plaster but more intense disturbance of paint occured later in the year with power sanding and symptoms were first noticed in May. Googled my symptoms and found out that they matched the profile of lead poisoning exactly, bought an OTC lead swab kit and dust in my bedroom flagged positive for lead. Went to GP and was given lead blood test sent to theĀ Trace Element Laboratory in GuildfordĀ for analysis. Test came back as showing no evidence of exposure < 0.03 umol/L, symptoms persisted and another was conducted 2 months later at my request with similar result. Investigation has been slow and limited and I feel neglected. ADL and QOL severely affected and no prescription medication except for theĀ suspected diagnosis of anxiety disorderĀ (sertraline 50mg, propanalol 40mg both started over month ago) has been received despite multiple visits to ER and GP surgery. This week GP has written letter asking for advice to Neurology but does not feel referral would be appropriate. I am extremely worried about worsening symptoms despite efforts to clean house. Appropriate vacuums are extremely difficult to get hold of in UK. I am worried aboutĀ oxidative stress, demyelination and encephalopathyĀ being the cause of all of my symptoms, is there any reassuring markers in my unspecialised bloods?Ā How should I take my treatment forward?

I have been taking 400mg Ibuprofen 3 times a day to deal with symptoms

call 111 about the stabbing headaches then they will probably tell you to go to urgent care and go there and tell them all your other symptoms and they should sort u faster, try another gp or worst case scenario go private and get them to reassure you. Worst thing to do is search up your symptoms sends you into a state of panic lol.
