A few days ago a friend invited me to go get oysters tonight, and I agreed. Today I was prescribed Augmentin to deal with a lingering cough from a prior infection that I fought off weeks ago (I've had a prior issue with pneumonia resulting from the lingering cough that I've been getting every time I get sick since I first got covid in 2021). I took the first dose a few hours ago. I tend to have a weak stomach but eat oysters fairly often, is it a bad idea to eat the oysters (due to vibrio or otherwise) now? Should I avoid seafood/shellfish in general? I was raised to avoid eating much seafood while sick but wondering if this is old wisdom with limited actual risk or if it just isn't worth it.
