Urgent question!! Tested positive for ureaplasma urealyticum early March however suspect l've had it for years. Symptoms are chronic recurring BV. First line treatment is doxycycline…however, I was put on doxycycline for 2 years from my dermatologist when I was around the age of 12 (did not take it correctly as I wasn’t are of resistance as a kid). I’m worried that I am resistant, however was told In a different sub that that’s not how it works as the bacteria becomes resistant, not my body.
So, my question is, since I didn’t have ureaplasma at age 12, am I good to take it now without the risk of it not working as a result of taking it for those 2 years? If resistance is an issue, what treatment options are there that aren't doxy but are still effective?
