Doctor says I don’t test “positive enough” for Lupus. Please help me understand.

  • Duration of complaint: 6 years

I’ve been in constant pain for years now, and it’s ruining my life. My doctor strongly suspected an autoimmune issue of some sort and sent me to a rheumatologist. She tested me for a ton of things, and I was so sure I’d finally get an answer. I tested negative for RA and Sjogrens. She stated that it might be Lupus since it fit the symptoms.

I was given an ANA Screen and an ANA TITER AND PATTERN test. Both were positive.

ANA - POSITIVE ANA TITER AND PATTERN - 1:160

But when I went in for my appointment to discuss the results she said that they “weren’t positive enough” to be Lupus. I’ve never felt so disheartened and I don’t know where to go from here. If anyone has any thoughts, I’m listening. Was she wrong? What does “not positive enough” even mean?
