Genital HSV-1 returned after 12 years... I think? [35m]
Post Body

Hey guys, 35 year old male here.

I take vyvanse, seroquel XR, and seroquel IR.

12 years ago I had a minor scratch on my penis, on the top, just below the glans, underneath my foreskin. My girlfriend at the time had a cold sore that had just cleared up. Unfortunately, the scratch turned into a horrific lesion, and another lesion sprouted a few cm away. This was AWFUL, and the lesions left scars. I didn't consider it too risky, because I already has HSV-1, but hadn't had a cold sore in years. If it weren't for the scratch maybe it would have been okay?

ANYWAY the last few days, I've noticed a "sweet" smell under my foreskin, and my glans is always moist, with a very very thin liquid. I know "sweet" isn't typically a descriptor for herpes, but the only time I've ever smelled that was when I had the herpes infection before. I've also been feeling itchy under my glans lately, and I was tested for STIs in january, and have not been sexually active all year.

Today my old scars are inflamed and bright red, does it make sense for a HSV-1 outbreak to appear in the exact same spots as the initial infection? I haven't had a cold sore in over a decade.

EDIT: While I'm here, I might as well also ask, does anybody know the process of hiring a physician as a consultant? I'm presenting a new idea at work, and an endorsement from a physician would go far. I'm Canadian, and I imagine most doctors on here are American, so it might not be the same thing at all. I'm just curious, IS that a thing that one can do??
