I, 27F, have Ventricular Septal Defect. I’ve never had to get surgery to close my holes and I live basically completely normal (outside of running). As an adult, I started experiencing these fainting spells randomly once in a blue moon (last one was 6 months ago roughly, and the one before that was maybe 3 months prior.)
I experience- shortness of breath, the room spinning (like I’m hammered), nausea, rapid heart rate and then basically my legs will just give out on me and I’ll faint. Sometimes I’m coherent but dazed and others where I’m out cold for a minute or two.
On Friday it happened again. This time I was coherent, felt like I couldn’t catch my breath and my heart was racing so fast and then after I couldn’t feel a beat at all. Neither could my fiancé. It was just so weird to me, felt like it went from 100 to 0.
No sweating though, which my heart doctor told me to look out for.
The following day, I wake up with flu like symptoms- congestion, coughing, sneezing.
Is this even related to VSD or is this something else / a combo? It’s just so coincidental this would all happen at once. Thanks for your help, waiting a call back from my cardiologist.
