What is the best way to get in contact with a doctor to get my kidney's check out without insurance. M34
Post Body

I may have some kidney issues. I've been dealing with insane levels of dehydration in my sleep. Some people have suggested that it could be diabetes. My mother who I live near is diabetic, and as a result I have access to a glucose monitor. From that I've determined that diabetes is unlikely, but I actually do intend to measure a few more times to be sure. But if not diabetes then something else has to be going on. I mean that I get deathly dehydrated at night. I can drink a half gallon of water over the night very easily and it seems like no amount of pre-hydrating before bed does anything. Even that hasn't been good enough because when I am 7/8ths asleep and incredibly dehydrated I don't have the mental ability to locate, pickup, and unscrew a big jug while not spilling it. As a result I bought a vet grade IV line that I've spiked into a gallon jug of water over my bed that I use as an oral drip. At the very least turning on and off the roll valve is easier and more accessible when half awake.

Ok. At that point I probably shouldn't continue managing this myself and should figure out what is going on.

So on the no insurance thing, I've never really been unhappy with medical access over it. I save. I've always gotten good value out my interactions with the medical community as long as I stay a good mile away from an ER or urgent care. But it does make it so first contact with the medical world on an issue takes a little more thought and advisement. Who would you talk to first and is there anything I can do to do some preliminary self diagnosis to increase the odds I'm talking to the right people sooner?

I am 5'6", M34, take no medication, 178lbs. I've had issues with this for a couple of years in hindsight though before I thought my room was over ventilated. I'm so generally healthy that my mind almost never goes to a medical issue if I'm having a problem. But it has accelerated lately hence resorting to the drip line and its become more obvious something medically abnormal is going on.
