Hi all,
Hoping I can get some advice here. For the last few months or so on occasion I will get a sort of “raspy” or “grating” sensation occasionally with my heart beats. Never been able to find anything on the internet about anyone ever being able to feel a raspy heartbeat sensation. But surely I can’t be the first human in history to have this haha.
It started a few months ago. Came on slowly the first day and 3-4 days later it was so much worse with constant PVCs as well. This happened a few weeks after I got what I think was a cold and also after I started trying to lose weight again after a small 1 month diet break. (I had previously been dieting and exercising for the last 4 months to lose around 20lbs or so). If I stay in bed and rest it will slowly get better over the course of a week or so but if I try to resume normal activity with exercise it comes back within a few days. I’ve been active and in shape my whole life so I should be able to workout with no problem.
I have been the to cardiologists and they have not been able to find anything when listening with a. Stethoscope or with ekg and echo. However the issue is extremely transient and I have never been able to get examined when it actually happens. Holter monitor just shows PVC’s ~ 400 per day but this sensation is not really related to those as I feel every single PVC and this sensation is separate.
I’m a bit lost on what to do to get this resolved. The doctors have insisted there isn’t anything wrong yet the sensation remains and I am unable to exercise regularly like I have been for years without it getting worse so something definitely has to be up. Any ideas on what I can do?
TLDR: occasional raspy/grating feeling heartbeat. Worse with exercise and slight calorie restriction. Better with rest. Started about 2 months ago a few weeks after getting sick and cutting sodium from my diet. Want to know what it could be.
