Hey Dad. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I keep stripping screws trying to make these shelves. I'm just trying to screw 1x4s into the wall of my closet so I can set a shelf on top, but the screws keep stripping. I googled it and learned I can adjust the clutch of my drill. That helped me get the next screw in deeper, but not deep enough. The wood came away from the wall and turned, so now the wood isn't flush against the wall anymore, but the screw is so stripped I can't get it back out. So I guess I need to know how to get this screw out and how to not strip the rest.
I'm so overwhelmed. I just moved into a tiny place and I'm trying to install shelves, but I screwed up some anchors on another shelf I tried to install. I was hoping these closet shelves would give me the confidence I need to try that shelf again, but I just want to crawl under a rock. I feel like I can't do this.
Edit: I have new drill bits ordered, but a friend ended up coming over and installing these shelves. Thanks for the help everybody. It is appreciated, and I feel like I learned some new things for next time I try.
