I was looking through the conservative subreddits to see their takes on Amy Coney Barrett being confirmed and sworn in, and the majority were not celebrating because she was confirmed, but rather because it made liberals angry. I've never understood this justification of taking action to "trigger the libs," as we should consider politics and the actions taken by our government to be far more serious than a game. The President's first-grader-like conduct during the first debate is "funny," for example, but it also means that other world leaders are likely to look at that behavior and take him less seriously next time they meet him. The fact that the Senate invoked the Biden rule to block Merrick Garland when the election was six months away but completely ignored that rule to confirm Amy Barrett when the election was less than two weeks is a win against the liberals, but delegitimizes the Senate as an institution, shows that its members lack principles, and exhibits a concerning party divide and an abandonment of traditional norms and practices codified into everything but law itself. Why do so many people not seem to care about the longterm effects of actions taken simply to piss off the imaginary liberal they hold in their heads?
