Many Conservative politicians and news sources present "Woke Culture" as a threat to the US, yet there's no singular legal definition of woke or an explanation of how it's a threat and that it exists as a philosophy seems to be enough to trigger people.
Definitions based on the word's 1930s origin defines Woke as "aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice)" and "aware, especially of social problems such as racism and inequality". Using that definition, the Suffragette Movement, the Civil Rights Act, the Americans With Disabilities Act, Marriage Equality, et al are "Woke" and surely equitable application of the law among all people is a good thing as a rising tide lifts all boats.
However, Governor DeSantis calls Florida where "woke goes to die" suggesting woke is a targetable and killable threat. Ryan Newman, General Counsel to Governor DeSantis, stated “To me, it means someone who believes that there are systemic injustices in the criminal-justice system, and on that basis, they can decline to fully enforce and uphold the law” suggesting that, in his opinion, the law is perfect and that law enforcement officials, prosecutors, and judges should enforce the law without nuance. President-Elect Trump says "Woke is bullshit" suggesting he understands it and has dismissed it entirely. and Jesse Watter's says Howard Stern's "not woke" despite Howard Stern saying he is suggesting Jesse Watter's believes he knows Howard Stern better than Howard Stern.
What is "Woke Culture" and how has it harmed the United States?
