Advice request: need to spend next Thurs in Chicago to kill time for a day. Need a space to work / be before taking Metra Westbound.
Post Body

Landing next Thurs at ORD at 8 am. We need to arrive in Geneva area around 6 pm via Metra. Husband needs a quiet place to work from 10 am till 2/3 pm.

Please let me know which option sounds more plausible:

Option 1: Do carry-ons only (would cost $200 to upgrade tickets), go to United lounge after landing, use the lounge there, then take Blue Metra to Union P West to Geneva. Kicker: I have no idea how busy a lounge would be on a Thursday morning. We would be on day passes ($40/each) Kicker 2: yes, it's that expensive to do the carry ons, I bough basic economy tickets so if we take a carry on they will make us gate check it and then our bags ride around baggage claim while we are in the lounge

Option 2: Check bags (much cheaper), then get a hotel Daypass for a few hours. Hard part is figuring out where to get a daypass as there are a lot of options. Maybe one near or on the Union Pacific West? Cost is Uber/transit to get there plus daypass (ranges from $79 to $160). Kicker: I have mobility issues so I can't walk long distances between places.

Option 3: Chuck both those ideas above but rent a car for $300 for our trip, head straight to Geneva when we land and hopefully get there by 10 am for conference calls that husband has already moved once for this trip... Kicker: tolls, stress (?) Husband is accustomed to city driving and we've driven in Chicago before.

Thanks in advance for any advice, trying to make this as painless and cheap as possible.
