I'm a professional video editor but I've run into the problem where rendering proxies and downloading footage is claiming too much time. We're talking 12 hour sessions, most of which I try to do overnight but when it's not done, it eats into my work day (rendering and editing at the same time on the same PC is asking for problems)
So I am upgrading my setup with a whole new PC for editing and intend to use my old PC for just rendering and downloading. But a dual PC setup brings of course the issue of keyboard, mouse and screen.
I have a dual monitor setup and I've read that KVM switched aren't generally... Great for this.
So would it be best to go with a basic one to just switch mouse and keyboard? And then connect the monitors directly to both pc's and switch them manually?
I'm also wondering about transferring files. Because ideally, I would be able to transfer 4-500GB of files relatively quickly between the 2 PC's
