Would it be safe to use soda cans as mini tart shell rings?

Was going to slice them into .8” rings and poke holes with a leather awl, using them as the ring in a recipe like this: https://preppykitchen.com/fruit-tart/
Seeing conflicting things on the interwebs about whether this would be food safe. I do know people did the beer can chicken thing a bunch a while ago and I didn’t see a lot of “oh no” about it.
