thoughts on mascarpone buttercream?

i have a cake order i need to finish by saturday and im still deciding what flavors to use. iโm thinking white cake layers, orange curd filling, and mascarpone buttercream. my first choice was cream cheese frosting but the cake will be 3 layers, and in this summer heat, i donโt trust it to hold up. would mascarpone do the job? if so, will it go on as smooth as other buttercreams? all thoughts and opinions welcome
