Can I use the water from canned peaches in a quick fruit glaze?

Good morning and happy easter to those who celebrate, Im making a spongecake topped with custard and fruit to be eaten today. I found a simple recipe online for an easy fruit glaze that uses a cup of jam and 2 tbsp of water. I wanted to know, can I reuse water from the canned peaches I'm going to put on the cake? The intention being that the glaze would have a bit of a peachy/fig (fig jam is all i have hahaha) taste. Or would that bork the glaze? Thank you.
