Painting onto sugar glass?

Post Body

Hi! I'm not really around this sub but had a question (I also posted this question to r/baking before I realized this sub existed). Could you use gel or water-based food coloring to paint on hardened sugar glass (like tanghulu)?

I would probably be dyeing the glass itself white, letting it harden, then attempting to paint other colors on it. Is there any way to achieve this using "cheaper"/water-based dyes? Thank you for any input!!
