Going to a Bortle 1 area, how can I best prepare?

Post Body
I have some very basic experience with astrophotography and have only ever done it in like a bortle 4 area. But I found out that I happen to be going to a bortle 1 area during new moon, so I wanted to take advantage of it. My current equipment is just a tripod and a DSLR (Nikon D7000 with 18mm to 105mm zoom lens). I have watched some youtube videos and had a friend give me some advice about software and stuff, but there are two main questions I had.
- Is there some cheap equipment I can buy (under like 100 euros) which would significantly improve my setup? Also, it shouldn't be too bulky to travel by air.
- What sources do you recommend to learn as much as I can about this in a relatively short amount of time?
Any other advice is also greatly appreciated. Thanks!

D7000 has an in built intervalometer. This is different to the timer your talking about. Itβs buried in the menu. I use a D7100 and it has the same feature. I have taken many many exposures this way.
However in all honesty you can pick up an external intervalometer from Amazon really cheap. Chuck the camera in bulb mode and let the external do the job. The less interaction with the camera as possible is the best case scenario when untracked.
