what iso should I be shooting at for milky way?

Always thought it would be 6400, however I’ve now seen people recommend 1600. Using a Canon T6, plan to stack 400 photos, 10s each ~ 1h total exposure time. I’m at a dark sky for another night, and after shooting at 1600 the images come out a bit dark.
