Hey everyone, I came across the meadow croft rockshelter online and am extremely interested in the history behind it, specifically that it is one of the oldest sites of human habitation in North America. However, I would like to know if the consensus that this site is in fact a pre Clovis site is widely accepted or if there is skepticism or criticism against it?
I only ask because I’ve taken classes in anthropology, psychology, and paleontology which have all had some pretty big instances in which the information that was previously believed or accepted at a point was the result of someone essentially pushing false ideas for fame or publishing. I’m not an archaeologist so I don’t know if this site is controversial in the community, or if it is definitely what is being told to the general public on their website? Thanks in advance!
